One day Till I leave to Wargames Kon, My living rooms is amess with the flurry of activity, Was taking two Friends that were going to the doubles but one had to drop out. Long story short three days and 1000 points of Angels painted to table top quality, woot. Just have to finish up two pods and paint some bases then, off to the Kon.
I will be rooming at my brothers place since it is Cheaper.
Added a Twitter Update thingie for minute to minute war games con Updates, will be taking camera so there will be great shots of opponent armies and painting competition. Hoping to experiment with Video camera and battle reports but maybe.
Picking out my Wolfguard has always been difficult when they become crushed into swirling melee on the table top so I decided to make them stand out alittle more on the table. After seeing the Fiery weapon tutorial on linked from Ron's page, felt it would be an intresting look to apply to a powerfist, as in the fluff the fist is used to gouge out material and such.
Finished my preheresy Raider with a step by step will post that alittle later. I kea has a great deal on small lights that are great for making a photo box. Pictures to come.
I do love me some forgeworld, but, lacking in hobby funds and time, due to impatients and upcoming dates, it is not an option. So being a decent crafter and having time on my hands to build, while being out of school, I took to building my own Pre-heresy, raider.
This is only the left side the raider, built it then took pictures of it, on the other side I want to get a step by step done for all those would be budget customizers. Magnets added so I can run it as any type of raider. Hoping to give it a feel as a chapter relic that has been upgraded so that it can serve more then one roll in the chapter.
Taking a break from my wolves and it has led me to playing the blood angels.
Playing at a 1000 points, is very interesting, while most armies fields one maybe two elite and/or heavy support. I have seen two Redeemers, Baal preds and other such nonsense.
While helping people prep for bolscon, local players participating in the doubles tourny will be fielding blood angels with their FNP rules along with nids. Its a nasty combo, by interpreting the rules for bols armies can share powers.
So FNP along with Nids army wide Furious Charge and Regens.
List I helped build:
Doom of Malentai
The Spawning nid bug forgot whats it called.
gaunts and more guants.
Monsters will be deep striking.
Be warned this lays down six ap 3 or lower templates a turn. Along with Dooms sick power, it is a very powerful list. Then I was asked what could beat it. Hopefully you guys have some ideas. What I can see is a few well placed lascannons, and meltas could stall this list.
But I recently purchased a new one. Still getting familar with it.
Turq squad was the first squad to be painted the one with the cape is a stand in for Ragnar but will soon become the standard for all my wolf guard which there will be five of in the end.
Red squad came out well they need more work took to be fully painted up come the con. The headare taken from Chaos maruaders, these guys usally accompany the rune priest into battle. These also got the Special bases i picked up from Iron halo.
Blue Squad, I was disappointed because the primer frosted them making thier armor look rough as sand paper.
Every one has been wondering what this thing will look like, At first I imagined a stunty thunder hawk. Many people are just going to proxy Valkyries or they are going to take a valk and kit bash the models like SO. Which I think looks good but I was looking for something not so ummm wide, so I looked to all the other movies with interesting drop craft. Aliens has the iconic box designed looks like modern day airplane lander. Starship troopers uses big boxes which remind me of bulklanders Went through a couple of games and really liked the PELICAN from Halo, I know two game universes and what not. But the large drop ship with stubby wings is appealing unfortunately they don't have any toys that would work for conversions so I scoured the inter webs for plans of some sort and came across these great paper plans. Plan wise I believe its bigger then a valk but not by much hoping to get it printed up tomorrow and bust one out in a could of hours. Have it ready for test play on Saturday.
comment and crits and what not any better ideas.

Well at my FLGS, the excitement over the New blood angels is Palpable, codex being passed around, overjoyed and lamented rules being called out to all that would lend an ear. New minis being passed around like a warm spoon of plastic crack. But in the end it is all about how these minis will preform on the table top that makes them a good army. Last night after playing a fairly good 2000 point game an irregular (a non regular @ my FLGS) who had been watching my wolves lay down the hurt on to some vanilla marines, offered me a game, in a less then friendly way, (p.s. don't act high and mighty and better then me when you have never played against someone before it tends to bring out the bad in me) against the new angels codex, which I gladly accepted as I was eager to see them on the field.
A 1000 points was the List:
2x assualt squads with power weapons and meltas
Death Company dread
8 Thunderhammer storm shield terminators
As I saw him bring out these models I couldn't help but feel he was trying to compensate.
So In response to the earlier slight against my senses I pulled:
Ragnar W/ a combat squad and a wolfguard
grey hunters in a rhino
Combat squad greys with a lascannon razorback
Spear Head, Annihilation.
I won the roll off so I let him go first, deepstrikers.
I knew about Descent of angels (Deep-striking, 1d6 scatter with a re-roll), He deployed his Th+SS termies as close as possible, attached to what I heard was a bad motherfo Mephiston. Death Company dread was right next to him. In response I castled In to my corner staggering my vehicles, trying to bait the second turn Deepstrikers in to the corner behind my redeemer.
Angels-First turn, Termies walk run, dread does he same.
This is the first I begin to notice that he is moving his minis Front to back, cheating, instead of moving 6 termies are now moving about 8 inches a turn and dread is moving about 9. I don't say anything out of politiness and It was the first time playing the guy I tought maybe he was nervous.
Wolves-Move everything trying to put as much distance between my guys and the stompiness of the thunderhammers, and force them to move through or around terrain.
Lay down heavy fire lascannon krak missiles in to the dread = nothing. Assualt cannon in to Termies=nothing.
Angels= First Assault squad comes in, right next to my Raider, taking the bait, but he has a square of open space to deep strike in about 8 inches from the table edge, He then proceeds to pre measure the distance from the table edge 6 inches so he doesn't scatter off. I correct him on this, but his response "Well we can premeasure at my flgs" well your not at "your" store so play by the rules.
When you deep strike you have to form a tight circle, around the center base to base. He tries to spread them out because he was now in range of my flamestorm cannons. I correct him, and yet another trip to Rulebook land.
He Meltas my raider and knocks off my treads, OH NO!
Flame Storm Assault marines. Kill 9
Move Open Shoot.
Shake a dread which he ignores.
Kill a term.
Battle keeps going this way. Termies march and take fire, dread pops one of my speeders with a melta shot, but exposes his back to two krak missles and gets popped.
Angel player forgets to deepstrike his last squad of assault marines in the movement phase and then tries to do it during the shoot after running all his units. when I stop him he says uses his at my Flgs excuse again the phases are there for a reason.
Terminators get close but are just short of assault on my raider. Short being 9 inches he tries to argue that he could assualt, measuring tape doesn't lie. Ragnar's squad and other wolfguards Hop out of their transports 23 Bolt pistol shots later and only three terminators and Mephiston are left, They get charged by all of them.
Mephiston kills three str 10 bleh no biggie. Ragnar butchers three terminators with ease, attached wolf guard and sarge from Ragnars squad and four regular marines lay in to Mephiston 4 wounds go quick when thier 30 attacks being thrown at you, 3 are lost to power weapons and the last wound is lost to a failed armor save.
Mephiston is like any other IC, Their good when attached to a squad but like everything in the game they die. I thought he would be more impressive but it he seemed okay or maybe the player utilized him the wrong way.
Seems like marching him across the table is a bad idea.
I was only impressed with one thing the deep striking rules, other then that they did not Live up to the hype... sad sad sad......
At the end of summer I had great ambition to run A fairly spiffy Warhammer blog and Be a great ARCHITECT. Well one of those ambitions came true, I am a great architect, but running my blog not so good a full 6 months of 70 hour work weeks can annihilate any hobby. In the past months I've finished:
1850 Pts of Crimson Fist
10 Chaos knights
Two battle wagons
and two trucks
Squad of grey hunters
squad of wolf guard terminators
built three raiders
one drop pod
and built and converted two landspeeders.
But on he gaming aspect I have done very little a tournie here and there and a few combat patrols. But other then that My life has taken a back seat to this wonderful disease, ARCH.
I am hoping to find my camera and snap some shots of the grey hunters. Just to add fuel to the band wagon.
